This is a wonderful and unusual antique locket

It’s made from solid 9ct rose gold, and carries a full hallmark for Chester 1908

It is hand engraved on both sides with foliage and curlicues.

To the centre on the back is an empty shield cartouch – it’s nice that it has never been engraved with a name or monogram

Inside the circular locket section both frames, and even the original lining paper, have been retained

The locket section measures 11mm across (inside the frame)

The cross measures 3.3cm long, including the rings

It’s 2.5cm across

The locket weighs 3.2g

It’s in excellent antique condition with no damage or repair

There is light surface wear throughout

There are no holes or splits and no significant dents

There is a very shallow dent on the back

The locket opens easily and closes securely
