This is such a fabulous piece of mid-19th century jewellery

It’s made from solid 15ct yellow and is set with a large cabochon garnet

The pendant has the applied wire and granulation of Etruscan Revival designs

It supports a graduated fringe of snake chains, which each end with a tapered point. They move easily and fluidly

The pendant measures 4.8cm long

The garnet measures 11mm across

The pendant weighs 7.1g

It’s in very good antique condition

From the front it looks perfect

From the back you can see signs of alteration/reuse

The pin fastening has been removed

A wire bale has been attached by drilling through the to of the pendant
