OK, so this is an amazing necklace

It has scale, texture, age, detail and serious presence

It features a stunning “Stars & Bars” length of antique watch chain. These are often too short to make good necklaces but ta dah! This one has been professionally joined to a curb link chain of the same period (c1900-1920), that’s also the same scale, colour, weight etc etc

It is made entirely from solid 9ct rose gold

The curb is hand engraved on 3 of every 6 links. On the reverse it’s marked on each link with 9ct (this has worn soft, but we know what it says!)

The necklace can be worn with either surface showing

The necklace fastens with a chunky, dog clip clasp of the same era

The chain weighs 40.9g

It’s 21” (54cm) long

Of this, 17cm is curb chain, 37cm is Stars & Bars

The curb is 1cm wide

The Stars & Bars are 0.8cm wide

The chain is in excellent antique condition throughout

There is light surface wear throughout – the original yellow gold plate has largely worn away

There is no obvious wear – no thinning of links where they meet

All the links are loose – none have been soldered together

Note – Stars & Bars are renowned for the boxy links turning through 90 degrees and getting stuck at an angle. If this would irritate you, they’re best avoided. If you like a fidget toy, they’re perfect
